Ausenco awarded Pooncarie Project.

BeMaX Resources NL (BeMaX) has awarded Ausenco the lump sum turnkey contract for the design, engineering, project management, procurement, construction management and pre-commissioning of the Pooncarie Mineral Sands Project MSP and HMC Treatment Facility. Design and project management of the associated site infrastructure at Broken Hill is also included on an EPCM services basis.

The overall project encompasses:

  • The development of the Ginkgo sand mining lease located at Pooncarie in South Western N.S.W, including sand dredging operations, establishment of a wet concentrator and Heavy Mineral Concentrate (HMC) treatment facility and associated infrastructure.
  • The establishment of a Mineral Separation Plant (MSP) at Broken Hill and associated infrastructure.
  • The establishment of suitable port facilities at the Port of Adelaide.
  • The upgrade of an existing mineral sands processing facility at Bunbury in W.A.

Ausenco was engaged by BeMax in late 2004 and have been working since that time on a program for commissioning the wet concentration plant in December 2005 and the mineral separation plant in January 2006.
